pee-rilous

the year started off on a pretty anxious note for me
imagine my startled shock and panic a few days ago
when i realised i was passing out blood in urine
so much it turned a rather fruity pink
not to mention the tingling burning sensation
the frequent urge to pee despite the empty bladder
and on one time, even tiny blood clots appeared.

to think i was congratulating myself
for lasting the entire 2007 without falling sick once

i was mildly hyperventilating in the toilet.
when i came back to the phone
alex could sense my disquiet.

a quick google freaked me out further
with descriptions like "cancers"
"kidney stones" "intravenous pyelogram"
staring back at me.
my mind flew at a lightning pace
trying to conjure all sorts of reasons to explain this.
was it the strenuous cycling at ecp?
not enough water and trips to the toilet?
so carnivorous my kidneys are dying on me?
but i'm only bloody 22!

though the symptoms lasted for only a day
finally decided to visit the polyclinic today
after a mindnumbing two-hour queue
and the anxious wait for urine test results that seemed like eternity
i was diagnosed with a "very mild" urinary tract infection.
PHEW!
what kind of weirdass thing is that??
but anyway i'd take that over "kidney stones" "cancers" etc any day
the doctor advised more frequent urination and fluid intake.
i am to complete the antibiotics and return for a followup next week.
ok for now it's more cranberry juice, stinging citrate acid medicine
fluids fluids fluids and no more holding back of pee!

yep that completes my first harrowing week of the new year.
