because it is what is in my heart

so quiet
another wasted night
the television steals the conversation
exhale
another wasted breath
again it goes unnoticed

please tell me you're just feeling tired
'cause if it's more than that
i fear that i might break
out of touch, out of time
please send me anything but signals that are mixed
'cause i can't read your rolling eyes
out of touch, are we out of time

closed lipped
another goodnight kiss
is robbed of all its passion
your grip
another time is slack
it leaves me feeling empty

please tell me you're just feeling tired
'cause if it's more than that
i fear that i might break
out of touch, out of time
please send me anything but signals that are mixed
'cause i can't read your rolling eyes.
out of touch, are we out of time

i'll wait until tomorrow
maybe you'll feel better then
maybe we'll be better then
so what's another day
when I can't bear these nights of thoughts of going on without you
this mood of yours is temporary
it seems worth the wait to see you smile again
out of the corner of my eye
won't be the only way you're looking at me then

dashboard confessional
again i go unnoticed

waiting for a geisha's memoirs

YAY!
i now have the cleanest room in the house =)
so go ahead and envy me.
sleeping in my room tonight for the first time in, 2½ weeks? =)
been bunking on and off my bro's and parents' ever since cleanup started
and it hasn't quite officially ended yet. =P
quite a stickler for cleanliness now
oughta make this an annual affair huh.
figured it gets easier if you routinely clear your junk
instead of ignoring it and let it accumulate in one corner.

sometimes, it just doesn't pay to be a good samaritan huh
lent someone 100+ pages of readings to zap
so that she didn't have to borrow from rbr, flip tediously from cover to cover
get cancer from overexposure to green radiation rays like what i did
and she returned it carelessly stapled with the back sheets falling off.
RAH.
yesh i'm rather anal like that.

lots of it

SUNNY!
on a very special day too =)
seriously too much rain can get very depressing
poor brits.

risqué

how come i don't see the iGallop as an innocent exercise machine
hmmm... hands up, anyone else?
my jaw was literally agape when i first saw it
caught mostly in bemusement at its obscene hilarity.
well definitely not for kids oblivious to the birds and bees, eh.
and married couples acquiring the machine are definitely not getting enough of it.

cold comfort

the nights are chilly
and i love that
but not when i can no longer tell mornings from afternoons
it's the same dreary skies with steady drizzle
just makes me want to crawl back into bed.

h

"hey... hey, you slimmed down!"
what a blockheaded thing to say to someone you hadn't seen in 4 years
right.
maybe i just resent that person.
i was irked by the relentless gaze, the old memories it brought back.
i was bothered; maybe that irked me more than bumping into him.
it was my fault to begin with.
staring so hard at someone is bound to get you into trouble.
but i'm glad that chapter of my life is over now.

operation cleanup: almost done

finished my swivel cupboard! =)
a somewhat major accomplishment
cos i had meant for goof to tackle it -smirks-
wardrobe and books on the floor now
tmr would be the last day of wiping and cleaning
and all that's left would be shopping at ikea for boxes to dump all that stuff
sticking up my favourite photos and images on the walls
easy peasy.
rain's picking up again
seems like it would pour till dawn huh.

damn fast - the hols are over just like that.
had a great time though :)
one of the most jam-packed, enriching, fulfilling ever.
school starting on mon and i've got no proper bag =(
and, i have a (boohoo!) 5-DAY WEEK.
year II sem II
one final lap before year 3.
then in 2 months' time, i'd be 21.
everyone would prob be too busy?
to celebrate or plan anything =(((
damn damn damn fast.

jamie bloke

i fancy an ikea trip is long overdue
need to get some funky storage boxes and a cd case
went through the boxes and a quarter of swivel cupboard today
and nuh uh, NO roaches in sight :)
just a couple of fat white silverfish.
so, yay it's Jane 1 : 0 Goof

my obsession with jamie oliver is rekindled
would you believe it
here's what scv ch16's offering:
naked chef
oliver's twist (straight after naked)

jamie's school dinners
and coming up, jamie's great italian escape
he's the reason behind my meddling in the kitchen
almost gungho enough to contemplate joining shatec

he just makes cooking seem so fun and easy
throwing ingredients in as he pleases, in that laidback casual manner
and still manages to whip up incredibly "pukka"-looking grub
exotic stuff like wild asparagus organic chicken goat cheese
things you'll never find in a chinese household
hence his recipes are almost impossible to follow =(
for a celebrity chef he seems very honest and real.
he swears freely which is damn cute along with his lisp
absolutely a darling husband to gorgeous jools
an awesome dad of two beautiful baby girls, poppy and daisy (he wanted food names. lol)
the way he protested so resolutely against atrocious school meals
did you know some british kids at the AGE OF 7 OR 8 suffer from constipation
for as long as SIX WEEKS (uh huh no shitting at all)
from the all the processed junk food
it's so sad to see them rejecting jamie's food and opting for junk
hell, i would die for jamie to cook for meeee!
there's one kid that eats nothing but plain pasta or rice.
many more who hate fish and chicken and vegetables.
mind you, these are growing kids with developing bodies and minds
they can't name vegetables, mistake asparagus for kiwi and only recognise mac's golden arches.
tsktsk.

what makes him all the more inspiring
is that he's not doing this for money
his family and restaurant are neglected
gets scolded by schoolcooks for interfering and busting meal budgets
yet he shoulders on, cos he firmly believes in his cause :)
and he looks so freaking cute while at it too! haha.
ok i realise i sound completely bought over by him.
but yeah, i am.

cors has been pretty kind to me this sem
nearly bankrupt but got all the mods i wanted:
gek1500 inside your pc
nm1101e new media and society
en3226 shakespeare
en3241 lit & psychoanalysis
en3245 feminism

anyone taking the same modules, give me a buzz!

operation screwup

since nobody appears to be blogging, i shall :)

my mum's currently pissing me off bigtime
she and goof are the same, ie. both demand cleaning to be fast, efficient, snappy.
while i'm like dad
we would mull for ages over what should be kept/thrown
truth be told, we could do cleanup for years and never be done.
we end up keeping everything like garang gunis,
and possibly storing even more "trash".
but if rushed, then the therapeutic feel in packing would be gone, no?
i like my own rhythm and pace
reminsce wistfully over foolish sayings written in old cards

surprises like uncovering little forgotten gems tucked under grime and dirt
and be eternally grateful we've changed since the times those hideous photos were taken.

goof hastened my pace by ribbing and teasing me
alerting me to the fact that i could be stashing too much junk
in a way which was funny sweet and nice
threw away almost half the stuff littered on my desk
so now i'm typing on a clutter-free table
i can finally see the woodgrain patterns on it once more
an unbelievable feat i'm still bowled over by :)

whilst mum just kept muttering and nagging away

hello, when dammit i was trying to sleep
in the end i got so pissed it escalated into a yelling match.
what else is new.
2 days has passed and i'm almost done with the desk
all that's left now:
the swivel cupboard, 2 boxes, my wardrobe and books on the floor.
if i do one item a day, i'd make it just in time for school reopen. haa
scared to touch the boxes leh; goof said it might be the roaches' hideout.
rah.

operation cleanup: progress report

marooned in a little corner just outside the 3 bedrooms
the sofa's likely to be my bed over the next few days
everything is strewn on the floor in mine
goof literally worked his ass off
and we're not even half done.
he heaved the new tv set with my uncle
tinkered with the wiring
killed a couple of silverfish
fixed, cleaned my bed and table
everything without a single complaint
but he's convinced that not even roaches will stay in my room
cos it's waaaay too dirty. hah
did i mention i love him to bits?
more later - damn tired and sleepy.
stay tuned for the pics

hoping, and praying, and wishing

operation cleanup: tmr, 1 pm
target: my crummy pigsty

thank goodness goof's coming over to help
sure he might be a little fazed by the inconceivable clutter and disarray
there'd be loads of secrets and stuff to stash away beforehand
and hands off my wardrobe and undies and bras etc
but he's damn handy with broom/cloth+jif/bare hands for catching roaches
it's true, and i can verify that cos i've seen him in action :)
i love it when his brows are furrowed in serious concentration
lips pursed while staring intently at his task
flexing his arms wiping dust off some dirty shelves or window
as perspiration beads over his bared shoulders.
yesh i find guys doing manual labour very sexy.
and i should be a romance writer.

and yesh he will officially meet my mum.
i'm freaking over that.
i pray she doesn't yell or scream at me or say anything embarrassing.
i don't think i can live it down or even manage a weak smile.
i just want everything to go so perfectly
that she will like him and vice versa.
best, impress the socks off her.
argggghhh.
oh and that we won't bump into my dad.
it's just too complicated for one day.

i'm dreading the meeting,
but at the same time i can't wait for my room to be neat again.
it'd be fun to battle dust, roaches and all with goof :)
esp when he'd be doing most of the work
while i'll be just "eeee..."-ing away.

work things out

i like how my dad mopped the floor in the end
despite saying no to my mum earlier
i like how his laughter booms amidst the tv noises
just give him a telly
and i think he can jolly well survive on an island alone.
it's a rainy first day of 2006
and i'm spending it at home

it's the little things that show compromise and love.

happy 2006
happy as a clam is me
i am a happy clam :)
