work work work.

and it's valentine's, for god's sake! boohoo. everyone deserves a love-me break on vday.

it's been quite the gruelling weekend.

i didn't help myself by procrastinating and opting to do the most urgent work last. the 6-page white paper was due at 5pm on monday and i started panicking only at 4am. wanted to just give up and go to bed already (only bloody 4 percent!). but again, at goof's insistence and with his brilliant contributions during our brainstorming, the assignment suddenly seemed rather manageable. i secretly think he's an arts student in disguise. his mind is engine for sure, but there's something in his reasoning that always sounds bit artsy fartsy.

once that toughest hurdle was crossed, i breathed a huge sigh of relief. done with nm3219's white paper and midterm test so all that separates me from gluttony chinese new year celebrations is a 7-page organisational research paper due this thurday.

thereafter, kindly swamp me with angbaos and gorge me with pineapple tarts, shrimp rolls, julie's loveletters, simmering-with-goodness steamboats, please. ;)

nokia 6233

at goof's insistence, we finally went down to singtel yesterday and got myself a nokia 6233 (music edition) because it was the best bargain phone out there and i didn't really fancy any model. and just as well before the coming week's gst hike.

aesthetics matters as much as functionality and i'm pleased to say i have fallen in love with my pretty candybar phone! the gleaming silver-and-white casing :) it has this nifty application called ringtone cutter (self-explanatory) that i can't wait to try out once i'm done with work. so yay. tried out videocalling and it was such a thrill to see goof's animated face on my hp screen despite the fuzzy, grainy, pixellated vga-quality resolution. haha.

the complimentary music stand confounded me for nearly two whole hours before i realised i didn't switch it on. no wonder there was no sound. tsktsk. anyway it was a chore exploring all the hightech functions. i know i can spend a day on it and still not figure everything out. it can be fun but as it is now, i don't have much time to spare and yet i wanna personalise it asap. as i get older, there's this increasing resistance to technology. it's almost like i don't want to catch up. too tedious for lazy me maybe, heh. till now, i don't see the appeal of pda. i get impatient just waiting for it to boot. why bother when you can easily flip open a handy notebook? pen and paper still works the best for me.

i miss the user interface of the older nokia models too. like the big pop-up message with the ubiquitous yellow envelope "1 message received" for sms alert. it never fails to get me all excited and happy. now it's reduced to a boring blue box with a teeny weeny businesslike "1 message received". how unappealing. and i bloody hate how the inbox spoils the surprise by revealing the first line of the sms before i even open it. grr. but the increased storage capacity and pc-hp hookup are the really cool things that almost make up for it. which translates into wider choice of images for wallpaper! haha. ooh and the freaking nice themes that are free and downloadable from the net!

but i've again lost all my contacts because the inexperienced singtel lady didn't remind me to copy my contacts into the new hp before my old sim card got disconnected from the network. which means i have to make another trip to the shop today to reactivate my old sim. hopefully it's possible. -crosses fingers- there goes my plan of staying home to do work.

so far, it's a pathetic list - only dad, kent, goof, ling, wen, xian, alex, joyce, xiaoqi. everyone, sms your no to me?

:)))

so goof's birthday came and went.

it was simple, it was rowdy, it was hilarious. his sis instructed the baker to inscribe "forever handsome" on the cake instead of the usual (boring) "happy birthday". i thought it was so cute and apt i couldn't stop laughing when i first heard.

bogged down with lots of assignments this weekend again as deadlines loom in the week ahead. well you just have to bite the bullet and face it head-on. somehow i'm still pretty chirpy and all. i'm not sure why but i'd bet my dollar on the midterm break (yay!) and well, me and goof. we're really happy right now.

can't really describe the feeling except that it's bordering on being utterly, completely blissed-out. i'm sated with so much nirvanic joy and contentment it's amazing i'm not levitating yet. haha. anyway, when it comes to me, all's right with the world as long as we're ok. from my initial emotional baggage of unsure nerves and impulsive tendencies to being at such ease and comfort with him, we've come a long way. never thought i'd be able to bare the ugliest depths of my soul and he to listen, without judgment or assumptions, always with a steady shoulder, reassuring backrubs, a stupid joke that tops everything off and turns my sobs into gibberish hiccups.

with him, there's no reason to celebrate valentine's when every single day feels like one.

muacks

it's only been the 5th week of school and i'm swamped with work already.
-pants- what more with extracurricular activities like tidying your resume for the upcoming career fair. churning out my web critique last night granted me only 2-3 hours of shuteye. great, gonna look frazzled on this fabulous day.

cos it's GOOF'S (and my darling cristiano ronaldo's too) DAY! a big ol' boy he is now. :))) ok everybody say it with me,

happy 24, sweetheart.

with love

for a very cherished friend who has flown off for holland, "the land of potatoes, mash, salad, rosti" (in her own words), for sep...

my very own...

... work of art!

here's my droolworthy contribution to the 6-month calendar we've made for you! all it took was lots of cut-and-pasting, along with some colourful scribbles, but boy i thought the results looked fab. super cute and funny. you can tell that i'm very proud of my tentatively titled "hunk edition". haha. and i'm even happier to give these to one of my bestest friends in the world who has provided so much laughter with her spastic remarks, enlightenment with the occasional spark of wisdom, and irrational feline/canine/anything-nonhuman phobia over the years. even goof doesn't get pretty stuff like this you know. ;)

i guess you will never appreciate someone fully until you've been apart. so right now, i'm missing you lots! but i'm really glad to know that everything's well with you and you're in great company with fellow nus students in friendly netherland! travel is always good for the soul; i know you'd grow and learn from this trip and return home enriched with a much much bigger perspective of life for it. :) and i promise i'd get skype soon!

apocalypto

has anyone notice the crazy weather?

the blasted wind's been acting up, with the gusts so chilly and strong to make me go brrr and rub my arms. i kinda like it, gives a wintry feel and me an excuse to wear layered preppy-ish outfits to school. though my short-as-hell bottoms can hardly keep me warm and i'm so tempted to wear stockings.

flyaway hair aside, it's making me uneasy too. i don't know, a mild dread at the back of one's mind. is the end of the world coming? with the mutated bird flu virus strain and whatnots, it's not that hard to believe.

maybe we should all go be vegetarians and start hooking up with nature.

you're my angel.
for the constant comfort, strong shoulder to hide my tear-stained cheeks, equally wet tshirt sleeves soaked with tears and mucus... everything.
thanks love.
